The RCMP Surrey provincial operations support unit responded to shots-fired calls at the same residence in the 11000-block of 140A Street on Dec. 7 at about 8:20 a.m., on Dec. 27 at about 7:45 a.m., and on Dec. 28 just after 3 a.m.

The Surrey Police Service said in a news release Wednesday that it’s believed a resident of the home was the intended target but that the shootings were not linked to extortion or the gang conflict.

Police say the shots were fired from a vehicle, with bullets striking various parts of the residence. There have been no reports of injuries to residents or neighbours.

The single-level home sits in a residential area in Surrey’s Guildford neighbourhood and is a short distance away from an elementary school. Some damage appearing to be bullet holes could be seen on the exterior of the home.

No police officers were on scene Wednesday afternoon but an RCMP vehicle was stationed in front of the home.

No arrests have been made. The RCMP has taken over the investigation.

Police are asking residents in the area to remain mindful of any suspicious activities and vehicles.

Meanwhile, another home was shot at in Surrey early Wednesday morning in what is believed to be related to extortion.

The RCMP Surrey provincial operations support unit responded to reports of shots fired at a home in the area of 187 Street and 54 Avenue at around 4:25 a.m.

Police noted damage to the home and a parked car and found several empty bullet casings in front of the home.

It is unclear if this shooting is related to any other extortion-related shooting in the city.

Anyone with information, home surveillance video or dash camera footage can call the SPS non-emergency number at 604-599-0502.

As of two weeks ago, police in Surrey were investigating 106 extortion cases this year alone, with 45 of them involving shootings. Some of the 76 victims have been targeted several times.
