Additional charges have been laid against two foreign nationals suspected of committing an extortion-related shooting in Surrey earlier this year.

Harshdeep Singh and Hanspreet Singh were arrested in January after shots were fired at a home near 129 Street and 84 Avenue.

The incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. on Jan. 26, and the Surrey Police Service said officers in the area quickly located a suspect vehicle and stopped it, arresting the driver and a passenger.

Police allegedly found a loaded handgun inside the vehicle, and the two arrested men—20-year-old Harshdeep and 21-year-old Hanspreet—were each charged with occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm was present.

Harshdeep was also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

On Tuesday, additional charges were laid against each man, according to a statement from the SPS.

Harshdeep was charged with one count of intentionally discharging a prohibited or restricted firearm into a place, while Hanspreet was charged with the same offence, as well as possessing a loaded firearm.

Both men remain in custody. Their next court appearances are scheduled for Thursday, according to police.
