In March 2024, Jawad Mazen Fawwaz drove his car into the ocean near Rocky Point in Port Moody, B.C., during a livestream hosted by internet personality Adin Ross. Roughly two years later, he is back in the courts for an unrelated driving incident.

Fawwaz is now facing a dangerous driving charge in connection to a crash in New Westminster on March 30, 2026.

Around 11 p.m. PT, police say a black Mercedes SUV was travelling at high speed with several occupants in New Westminster before flipping into some hedges and landing on its roof at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and McBride Boulevard.

Police allege 21-year-old Fawwaz was driving the vehicle.

“Luck is the only reason we’re not talking about fatalities in this investigation,” Sgt. Andrew Leaver of the New Westminster Police Department said in an email to CBC News.

Police say no occupants of the SUV or the occupant of a second vehicle damaged in the crash sustained serious injuries.

“If you can’t drive responsibility, don’t drive,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver, with the New Westminster Police Department. (Submitted by New Westminster Police)

In November 2024, Fawwaz was granted a conditional discharge, handed a $100 fine and 12 months of probation after pleading guilty to one count of mischief under $5,000 in relation to the Port Moody social media act.

According to police at the time, Fawwaz was promised financial compensation for the stunt.

He was also ordered to pay nearly $3,000 in restitution to the City of Port Moody and complete 30 hours of community service.

Fawwaz is scheduled to appear in court on July 8 to set a trial date for the New Westminster case.
