Punjab’s outstanding debt has reached Rs 4.03 lakh crore, following the state’s borrowing of Rs 20,769 crore between April 2025 and January 2026. This figure is projected to increase further, with the total outstanding debt expected to hit Rs 4.17 lakh crore by the end of the current fiscal year.
